MapPainter

Make Your Message Impossible To Miss!

Put any image, in PNG, JPG, GIF, or BMP format, onto the Second Life Map. MapPainter rezzes a set of prims to reproduce your image at any size, up to 256 by 256 meters, so that you can make whatever picture, sign, or advertisement you want visible to anyone who views your land on the Map. Get your message out in a unique way that can't be missed by your customer and visitors. A sure-fire way to increase parcel traffic!

The Only Way To Put Images On The Map

Please note, this does not use textures to display your image. Textures on prims do not appear on the Second Life Map, precisely to make it difficult to display pictures on it. As a consequence, you can't simply put a texture on a megaprim in order to do this. MapPainter uses a sophisticated process to take any image you upload to the nowherevirtual.com website and convert it to a set of color data which is then fed to a script in-world that rezzes a set of prims in the sky above your land. The result is a perfect reproduction of your original image, which will be visible on the SL Map after its next update, which is usually at least once a week.

When you purchase this item, you will receive a MapPainter box. When you rez the box, you will be provided with a URL link to follow to upload your image. Once you do, you can rez your image in-world, usually at a height of 300m. The process is simple and can be done in minutes. Just follow the instructions at http://www.nowherevirtual.com/mappainter/help.html. You can even change the image at any time by uploading a new image to the website and choosing the "Update" command, the whole canvas will then display the new image.

Cover Any Size Land

MapPainter can rez an image as small as 32x32 pixels and as large as 256x256 pixels. The default is to rez the image so that each image pixel is 1 square meter, the same resolution as the SL Map. However, you can also rez your image at 200%, so that you can conserve prims. You can also rez images at 10% size so you can preview your image in-world, at 10 pixels per meter.

Requirements

You will need sufficient free prims on your land in order to rez a map image. Here are some prim requirements:

64x64 pixels at 100% (covers 64x64 meters) = 832 prims
128x128 pixels at 100% (covers 128x128 meters) = 3328 prims

64x64 pixels at 200% (covers 128x128 meters) = 1024 prims
128x128 pixels at 200% (covers 256x256 meters) = 4096 prims
